Jaka Primorac
Jaka Primorac is a Scientific Adviser at the Department for Culture and Communication, Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO), Zagreb, Croatia. She holds a PhD (2010) in Sociology from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, Croatia. Her research interests intersect the sociology of culture, media, and communications and the sociology of work. Her work is centered on the relationship between culture and economy, with a particular focus on cultural and creative labor issues and implications for cultural and media policies. Primorac collaborated on several research projects in Croatia and abroad (e.g. Jean Monnet project CULPOL, ‘Access to culture. Policy analysis’ EU Program Culture, COST Network ‘Dynamics of Virtual Work’, FP7 project MEDIADEM, COMPENDIUM, cultural policy expertise for European Parliament, as a short-term consultant for World Bank, etc). She was the project coordinator of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet project ‘European Union Policies and the Platformisation of Cultural and Audio-visual Sectors – platEU‘ (2020-2022). From 2016-2018 she was a member of the Artistic Council of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, which also provides a policy background of importance to the CRESCINE project. She publishes in foreign and domestic scientific books and journals (International Journal for Cultural Policy, Media Research, Media Studies, Forum for Qualitative Inquiry, etc).
