A greening and sustainability strategy has become an essential part of the funding and production cycle for European independent audiovisual and creative industries, whether producers, festivals, or decision-makers, with certification and strategy requirements often placed locally but also at the EU level.
While the industry is undoubtedly on its way to greener and more sustainable practices, the road ahead is full of theoretical and practical obstacles. Is it about carbon footprint? Sustainable subcontracting or service provision? Optimization or transport? Does it really provide a cost-effective impact for small companies, festivals, and markets? Or does certification matter or not? And finally, who should take responsibility and leadership for achieving the green and sustainable goals in the industry, where there are not many success stories to be learned from?
The apply/invite-only CresCine Think tank organized in partnership between Storytek Innovation & Venture Studio, Filmby Aarhus, and Lusofona University at Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event 2023 takes the greening and sustainability question into sharp focus to understand the practical needs of producers, events, festivals, and financiers/decision makers and, based on that develop a handbook of practical advice, applications, and case studies to help the industry to meet its sustainability goals.
