Zagreb Film Festival
Zagreb Film Festival (ZFF) is one of the central and most visited cultural events and the largest international film festival in Croatia. It’s held every year in November in Zagreb and presents to the audience the best of recent independent international and domestic film productions. From its beginning, ZFF is oriented towards discovering and promoting contemporary independent film and debut films of directors from around the world. By offering for nearly two decades a festival, and later a distribution platform, and by screening films which are often not found in multiplex theatres, the festival played a crucial role in bringing up generations of audiences who enjoy film art.
Kino Europa Online is an online platform for viewing contemporary international auteur films, which comprised the programming backbone of Europa Cinema in Zagreb in the period ZFF managed it, from 2008 to 2019. Since the closure of the cinema, the intention behind the platform has been to fill the gap created by the interruption in the programming and to continue making quality films available to the public. Paying tribute to the cinema hall that was home to the seventh art for close to a century, the platform currently hosts some of the best and most awarded titles of independent international and domestic film production, with a special emphasis on European film.
We launched the internet platform Croatian.film in 2018 with the aim of promoting Croatian film and expanding and strengthening its accessibility to a wider circle of viewers in Croatia and abroad. The platform is based on important and award-winning Croatian short films that are available for viewing free of charge anywhere in the world, and, since mid-2021, we have expanded the content to medium and feature-length films, making Croatian.film the central online venue for the promotion and viewing of Croatian films of all types, genres, and forms. The platform includes a film database complete with texts and photographs, a database of film professionals and production companies, and an information section consisting of news and interviews. The platform is bilingual, and all the films are equipped with English subtitles so that the international audience can follow and understand all the content on offer.
